The Môleworun is an exceptionally rare, nocturnal creature, with only a few of its kind existing across the planet. It inhabits the pitch-black, gloomy grottoes nestled deep within vibrant coral reefs. These ancient beings possess an incredible lifespan, living for up to 400 years in the quiet isolation of the abyss.

MORPHOLOGY & ANATOMY

• Dimensions: A colossal organism featuring a 9-meter-long body paired with a massive, 15-meter-long tail used for propulsion. 

  ​

• Dermal Structure & Camouflage: Encased in a solid skin covered with micro-scales, the creature is capable of adaptable color changes to blend seamlessly into its immediate surroundings. 

   

• Locomotion & Appendages: It possesses four thick, mole-like, four-fingered paws equipped with swimming webs and heavy claws. These powerful limbs are dual-purpose, perfectly adapted for both swimming and digging through ocean sand to rebuild structural reefs. Along its ridge and sides, the creature features turquoise-blue fins with glowing-in-the-dark edges. These fins can actively close and open, functioning as stabilizers to steer through underwater currents. 

   

• Cephalic Features & Sensory Organs: The head features a mole-like toothed mouth covered by a cluster of tentacles, including two elongated tendrils utilized for location scanning and environmental navigation. Small, tactile whiskers line the snout and the superciliary arch.

BEHAVIOR & DIET

• Daily Habits: Strictly avoiding sharp daylight and intense sun, it can only endure surface conditions during cloudy or stormy weather. When venturing onto land, it uses its acute sense of smell to sniff for nutritious plant roots to supplement its diet. 

   

• Reproduction: The species transitions to the shoreline exclusively for reproductive cycles, giving birth on land to a maximum of one baby per cycle. 

   

• Communication: It utilizes deep, whale-like sound waves for long-distance acoustic communication and emits a distinct purring sound when satisfied or entertained. 

   

• Dietary Habits: Its carnivorous deep-sea diet consists primarily of sea bristle worms and mantis shrimps, which it supplements with terrestrial roots. 

   

LIFE’S PURPOSE & BEHAVIORAL LORE

The driving force of a Môleworun’s centuries-long existence is a sacred territorial ritual. Each individual relentlessly searches for sea pearls hidden within pearl mussels, harvesting them to build up its deep coral reef cave. These grottos become filled with vast aragonite treasures, an architectural legacy inherited by each successive generation of Môleworun over centuries to maintain absolute peace and harmony within their lineage. Due to the scarcity and meticulous nature of the search, it is known that a single marine dragon mole collects only about 10 pearls throughout its entire 400-year life.
